My name is Richard Wheat. I am a Nationally Registered Paramedic, as well as a Paramedic and Paramedic Instructor licensed in the State of Georgia. My full-time job is the lead Paramedic Instructor. I spend my days teaching future paramedics on the ins and outs of paramedicine.
During my career as an EMT, AEMT and Paramedic Instructor, I found I spent as much time tutoring other students as I did teaching my students in the classroom. EMS students have to know a wide variety of information. Most textbooks run thousands of pages in length. And, all of the training, lectures, and reading come to a head with a single computer test.
Many students look at the National Registry Written Exam with trepidation. They don’t know what to study. Aimlessly going over notes and taking practice tests, they do their best to get ready. For some people, this works. For many people, this pathway does not help them be successful on the Written Exam.
I have developed a plan for study. Please know that this is not a “Pass the Test with Little to No Effort!”.
To follow the plan you can either subscribe to my videos on Vimeo, or request one-on-one tutoring. The choice is yours. The video portion is a fairly new and was developed because I simply do not have sufficient time to dedicate to a large number of students. Also, the scheduling for tutor sessions is dependent on both your schedule and mine. The videos allow you to go over the information at your own pace, whenever you have time.
The one-on-one tutoring plan involves utilizing an EMS Review Worksheet. Candidates who want to order a copy of the worksheet and go through it themselves may do so. It provides a highlight of information that a student should know before taking the exam. Using the worksheet allows the student identify areas in the EMS curriculum where they are weak. That information is GOLD!!! They can then focus on those subject areas prior to their next attempt at the Written Exam.
The ultimate way of using the Paramedic Review Worksheet is through One-on-One. We will go through the Worksheet and we will go into the topics in detail. I will also provide test taking skills that will help the student better handle EMS test questions.
EMS-tutoring does not provide practice tests. We simply help you plan a successful pathway to passing the test.
